Chrysalis

Hand-made paper, welded steel, LED light, wire, mirror, and salt

3 ft x 3 ft x 3 ft

Like a creature going through metamorphosis, Chrysalis represents change, transformation, and rebirth both within the artist’s own personal life and universally.  Paper pulp cast from the hand-carved fossil stone sculpture, Time Capsule, was carefully peeled off of the stone and then sewn back together to create the suspended piece from which green light emanates. For the artist, light often represents a life source. Chrysalis and Time Capsule were installed together within the gallery space to exhibit their relationship.
